Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Outstanding experience at Barra to celebrate a birthday. Interiors are beautiful, the food fresh and delicious. We focused on the smaller tapas dishes which are great for sharing, everything was tasty. The prices are admittedly high but you do have to pay for experiences of this calibre, it was certainly worth it for our party. What set the experience apart was the service. The open concept kitchen have direct access to the chefs who were friendly and smiley. But the standout was the maître d' who made the experience feel deeply personalised, no request was too small. The level of service can really make the difference between good and great restaurants and that was on full display at Barra."
"Food was solid overall. Special shoutout to the gambas al ajillo — prawns were fresh and big, and dipping the grilled sourdough into that garlicky oil? Absolutely heavenly. Also loved the goat cheese salad — fresh greens, crunchy bits, and that creamy goat cheese on top just tied everything together. The Iberico croquettes were crisp and flavourful, and the arroz negro with grilled octopus was rich and satisfying. Padrón peppers made a nice wine snack too. Lovely vibes at the counter and friendly service. A bit on the pricier side, but portion is huge. Well worth it. Would definitely return to explore more."
"A Spanish Tapas Bar with great protein offered as a main. Located at Chinatown/Petaling Street. Accessible from MRT/LRT and monorail. Open parking around the location with average per entry 11RM beside four points hotel. The parking spot beside Barra itself is extremely pricey 5RM per 40min. The foods are as the previous reviews mentioned, worth a visit, great and cosy ambience. Entrecot, fresh oyster, hotate, cesar ala brasa, croquettes, grilled red snapper are delicious! Various options offered on the menu. Tapas style with many options of dishes. Their wine selection is aligned with the foods they served. Worth a try, book in advance, smart casual place. Reasonable price for the quality offered. Advisable early dinner at 6pm to avoid crowds."
"Me and my husband visited Barra recently, and overall it was a lovely experience. Food was awesome and the service we received from the staff was very overwhelming. We have ordered, gambas al ajillo, tortilla de chistorra, mashes potatoes, ensalada de rulo de cabra and their signature dessert tiramisu. All was so good. The goat cheese was heaven and for the prawn with oil sauce, it was amazing. Their food is very fresh, prawn was big and fresh, the cheese was very fresh too. In terms of pricing, I would say slightly expensive but its pay for the quality of the food. In terms of the atmosphere, it were perfecto. I like their concept of setting few seats in front of their cooking areas, for me it was a good idea as it able to give a great connectivity to the food and ambience. Need to reserve prior to your visiting."
"Extraordinary experience and 100% Spanish. If you want to try the typical food from my country, Spain, you have an amazing opportunity at this restaurant. We tried the tortilla with chistorra, ham croquettes, eggplant, grilled tuna, matrimonios (a very traditional appetizer from my region, Murcia), and for dessert, crema catalana. Everything was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. Since we were both Spanish, we had the chance to chat with Ignasi—very friendly and experienced, leading a great kitchen and dining room team."
"I booked a lunch here and they had a lunch set super worth it! The staff were amazing and even sang me a birthday song The food was delicious, especially the red snapper and the beef tartare. Such a great experience overall. Highly recommend!"
"Barra has quickly become one of my new favourites. The team are incredibly welcoming and look after you in such a warm, professional way. It’s a proper Spanish restaurant, and the food is genuinely excellent. Occasionally a few items run out (like the piglet or oysters), but that’s easy to overlook – there’s always something else delicious to choose. And not to forget – the espresso is outstanding, easily on par with a top barista. Highly recommended."
"Barra is a true hidden gem — a treasure discreetly tucked away yet unforgettable once discovered. As someone from the Mediterranean, finding a place thousands of kilometers from home where I could almost taste the sea in the air was an astonishing experience. Take my advice: sit at the bar and watch the chefs in action — the live chef’s table is where the magic unfolds. But don’t let your eyes do all the traveling; dive into this journey with every sense you have — sight, taste, and scent working together in harmony. Cyrus sim, was the perfect example of how the kitchen/bar should coordinate with the guest and for the guest. Bravo. Simply exquisite."
